In response to the recent attack by Iran on Israel, a former Senator representing Kaduna Central in Nigeria, Shehu Sani, has said the world leaders have failed.
Writing on a social media platform, Sani stated: “Iran has launched a retaliatory drone attack against Israel. Before our very eyes, the Middle East will finally be engulfed in War.
“All UN resolutions on Gaza had been defied, world leaders have failed.”
The geopolitical landscape of the Middle East has taken a dramatic turn with the onset of open hostilities between Israel and Iran.
This escalation follows a period of heightened tensions and proxy conflicts that have long characterized the region’s complex inter-state relations.
Sani’s comments underscore the failure of diplomatic efforts to prevent the escalation of hostilities and the broader inability of the international community to maintain peace and security in the region.
His words reflect a sentiment of resignation to the grim reality that the Middle East, a region already marred by conflict, may be on the brink of an even more devastating war.
The immediate precursor to the conflict was an Israeli operation targeting the Iranian embassy in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials.
This act, perceived as a significant provocation, led Iran to pledge a forceful response, dismissing international calls for restraint from entities such as the United Nations and the United States.
On Saturday evening, the situation escalated as Iran initiated a series of drone attacks on Israeli territory, marking the official commencement of what many feared would be an inevitable clash between the two nations. This development has raised alarms about the potential for a broader regional war, with implications that extend far beyond the immediate belligerents.
