The national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has urged the federal government to urgently address the rising food inflation and the severe hardships currently facing Nigerians.
This plea came during his goodwill message on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, a major Islamic festival that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
Ezeokenwa emphasized the need for policymakers to take decisive actions to improve the Nigerian economy and to promptly address the issue of the national minimum wage, which has been a longstanding concern amidst the country’s economic challenges.
While extending his best wishes for a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Ezeokenwa prayed that the blessings of the festival would spread throughout the nation, fostering a sense of unity and resilience amid the ongoing difficulties.
He highlighted the importance of celebrating Eid-el-Kabir with unity, love, and a spirit of sacrifice. Ezeokenwa noted that the festival serves as a reminder of the timeless lessons of compassion, selflessness, and generosity, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
“Eid el-Kabir holds a distinctive place in the hearts of Muslims globally, reminding us of the virtues of selflessness, compassion, and devotion. During this revered period, APGA acknowledges and celebrates the invaluable contributions of the Muslim faithful to our great nation,” Ezeokenwa said.
The APGA chairman called on Nigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, to embrace the values exemplified by Eid-el-Kabir and strive to embody its principles. He urged Muslims to use the occasion to strengthen their bonds of unity with fellow Nigerians, regardless of religious or cultural differences, and to extend a helping hand to those in need, as these principles are essential for building a prosperous and inclusive society.
