President Bola Tinubu arrived in Accra, Ghana on Saturday to attend the sixth mid-year coordination meeting of the African Union.
The President was received at the Kotoka International Airport by top Ghanaian and Nigerian officials, including the Ghanaian Deputy Minister of Education, Prof Kingsley Nyarko, and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tugar.
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu is expected to play a key role in the meeting, which aims to promote regional integration and address various challenges facing Africa, according to Politics Nigeria.
The President will address the meeting on the status of regional integration in Africa, highlighting the achievements and challenges encountered in West Africa since the last meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, in July 2023.
President Tinubu is also expected to present the ‘2024 Report on the State of the Community,’ focusing on key areas such as peace, regional security, governance, economic integration, humanitarian and social development, energy, mines, and agriculture.
The meeting is a crucial step towards promoting regional integration and addressing the challenges facing Africa, and President Tinubu’s participation is seen as a significant contribution to the effort.
