Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have publicly praised President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
In a joint statement, the Clintons commended Biden’s “extraordinary career of service” and expressed their support for Harris, saying they were “honored” to join him in endorsing her. “We will do whatever we can to support her,” they added.
The Clintons also expressed their concern about the potential consequences of a second term for former President Donald Trump.
They said, “Nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term. He has promised to be a dictator on day one.”
This endorsement comes after Biden’s surprise announcement to abandon his reelection bid, paving the way for Harris to take the lead as the Democratic nominee. The Clintons’ support is significant, given their influence within the Democratic Party and their experience in presidential politics.
