The Katsina State Government has established a committee on Monday to oversee the distribution of rice allocated to the state by the federal government.
The committee, headed by Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, will ensure transparent and equitable distribution of the rice to the people of Katsina State.
According to a statement by the Information Commissioner, Bala Salisu-Zango, the committee comprises representatives from various government agencies, security forces, traditional councils, religious sects, youth organizations, and civil society groups, according to Peoples Gazette.
The committee’s terms of reference include verifying the quantity of rice received from the federal government and developing a procedure for distributing the rice across the 34 local government areas of the state.
Acting Governor Faruk Lawal-Jobe disclosed that Katsina State has received 20 trucks of rice from the federal government and has provided logistics for distribution to various LGAs.
The committee members include government officials, security personnel, traditional leaders, religious representatives, youth leaders, and civil society organizations.
The establishment of the committee is aimed at ensuring that the rice allocation reaches the intended beneficiaries in a fair and transparent manner.
