Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has introduced measures to alleviate the financial burden on civil servants in the state.
In response to the high transportation costs, he has approved a reduced workweek for civil servants, with those in grade levels 01-10 now working three days a week and those in grade levels 12-17 working four days a week.
New Work Schedule:
– _Grade Levels 01-10_: Three days a week
– _Grade Levels 12-17_: Four days a week
However, this new schedule excludes essential workers, including medical personnel, security operatives, political office holders, and Accounting Officers.
In addition to the reduced workweek, Governor Adeleke has also extended the payment of palliatives to public servants for the next two months, pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.
This decision is part of his commitment to the well-being of workers and a response to the current economic situation in the country.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, emphasized that the specific working days for each public servant will be arranged by the Accounting Officers in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.
All Accounting Officers have been directed to comply with the new directives.
This move is seen as a positive step towards supporting civil servants in Osun State, and it’s expected to help reduce the financial strain caused by transportation costs.
