Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Saturday participated in the ongoing local government elections, emphasizing the importance of the exercise for promoting grassroots development.
The governor highlighted his administration’s dedication to ensuring the smooth operation of local governments in the state, in accordance with legal requirements.
Governor Aiyedatiwa voted at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area. After casting his ballot, he praised the electoral process, commending the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission for its efficient handling of the elections.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo State for their active involvement in the electoral process.
In a related development, the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, cast his vote at Igbooroko Unit 16, Ward 3, in Owo Local Government Area at around 9:45 a.m. Dr. Adelami expressed satisfaction with the high voter turnout and encouraged residents to replicate the success of the previous governorship election by participating in large numbers.
The deputy governor emphasized the significance of local government administration in fostering good governance and strengthening democracy, urging citizens to actively engage in the electoral process. He also noted his contentment with the turnout at his polling unit.
