The former secretary of Moro Local Government Area in Kwara State, Hon. Abdullahi AbdulRauph Abdulsalam, has resigned his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
In a letter dated March 20, 2025, addressed to the Moro LGA chairman of the APC, titled “NOTICE OF RESIGNATION AS A MEMBER OF ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)”, AbdulSalam attributed his resignation to what he described as “endless conflicts, crises, and lack of unity” within the party at all levels in Kwara State.
He explained that the resignation was primarily due to the APC’s inadequate leadership capacity to manage crises and resolve conflicts. He further criticized the lack of unity and peaceful coexistence among party leaders at the state level, which, according to him, has hindered progress. AbdulSalam pointed to the recent crisis in Moro LGA that resulted in chaos and physical attacks on innocent party members as a decisive factor in his departure.
“This has made it clear that it’s time for me to move on. I have decided to align myself with like-minded individuals who prioritize peace and progress, with the goal of restoring Kwara State’s lost glory,” AbdulSalam stated in his resignation letter.
The former youth empowerment coordinator in the local government and former board member of Kwara Express, the state government’s transportation company, revealed that he had initially joined the APC in March 2023 under certain circumstances. Currently serving as the national secretary of the Ilorin Emirate for Unity and Development Initiative (IEUDI), he expressed his gratitude to the APC leadership for the experiences and knowledge gained during his time in the party.
AbdulSalam concluded by praying that the APC leadership would acquire the wisdom necessary to resolve the ongoing crises affecting the peace of the state.
