The Vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo hailed his United States of America counterpart, Kamala Harris for receiving him at the White House in Washington DC.
Osinbajo gave the appraisal in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Thursday.
Recall that Premium Politics reported that Osinbajo departed Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city for the US on 31 August 2022 to seek global partnership over the country’s recently launched Energy Transition Plan.
Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan officially launched last week at a global virtual event is a homegrown, data-backed and multi-pronged strategy developed for the attainment of 2060 net-zero emissions commitment in five critical sectors: power, cooking, oil and gas, transport and industry, adding that Nigeria needs $410 billion to deliver the Transition Plan by 2060.
Osinbajo had disclosed that Nigeria will need at least $10 billion per annum above business-as-usual spending for effective implementation.
In support of Nigeria’s new Energy Transition Plan, the World Bank and a renewable energy organization – Sun Africa, pledged a sum of $1.5 billion each totalling an initial $3 billion investment.
Recall that Premium Politics reported that All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant was scheduled to meet with Harris during his visit to the US to further seek their partnership and support.
The All Progressives Congress former presidential aspirant after being received by the US vice president, said, “It was truly a pleasure to meet with Vice-President Kamala Harris to discuss Nigeria’s #EnergyTransition Plan and other interests between our Governments.”
He added, “The United States has been a long-standing partner of ours and has since our independence consistently supported Nigeria’s aspirations for economic and social development.
“In addition to a shared commitment to democracy, both countries must continue to work together at the bilateral and multilateral levels to address common global challenges, promote peace and security, tackle pandemics, climate change, and economic adversity.
“It was a pleasure to meet @vpKamala Harris. Thank you for receiving me at the @whitehouse.”
