The Leader of the Umunneochi Local Government Legislative Council in Abia State, Mrs. Obiageri Chukwu, has been impeached by her colleagues.
The impeachment and indefinite suspension took place on Thursday during a legislative session.
In the aftermath of her removal, Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi was elected as the new Council Leader.
A press release, signed by the newly elected Council Leader, confirmed that the changes were made on Thursday. However, the statement did not provide specific details regarding the reasons behind Mrs. Chukwu’s impeachment.
The release also announced the appointment of new principal officers in the Council. These include Joel Obumneme Uche as Deputy Leader, Mba David C- as Majority Leader, Mrs. Nwafor Charity as Deputy Majority Leader, and Ofoegbu Chukwubiko as Chief Whip.
The release, which was also sent to the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Umuahia, confirmed that Mrs. Chukwu has been suspended indefinitely from her position.
