Traditional rulers in Igbere ancient kingdom, Bende Local Government of Abia State, have pledged their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s signing of the South East Development Commission bill into law.
They also commended Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for sponsoring the bill.
During Kalu’s visit to Igbere Ward A and B, the traditional rulers expressed gratitude for his effective representation and legacy projects in the area.
Eze Roland Ekeoma, speaking on behalf of the monarchs, praised President Tinubu and Kalu for their efforts, according to Independent.
Kalu was honoured with a special cultural attire and a machete, symbolizing strength and encouragement.
He also received the “Pillar of Youth” award from the Presbyterian Young Peoples Association of Nigeria.
The deputy speaker donated bags of rice and fertilizers, stating he was in Igbere to appreciate the people’s support in the 2023 general elections.
The visits witnessed the defection of notable politicians from other parties into the All Progressives Congress.
