The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate action to address the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
Nwosu criticized the government’s economic policies, saying they are “suffocating” Nigerians.
He urged the government to be proactive in tackling the challenge, suggesting that funds spent on suppressing protests and providing palliatives could be better used to address hunger and poverty, according to Independent.
Nwosu expressed disappointment in the opposition’s lack of action in holding the government accountable and called on opposition leaders to rise to the occasion.
He also criticized the government’s efforts to stifle protests, saying it is undemocratic to bar citizens from protesting bad policies.
Nwosu alleged that the widespread hunger and poverty are a ploy to cripple Nigerians and prevent them from holding the government accountable.
He vowed to work hard to ensure his party takes over the government in the next election.
