The president of Oodua People Congress Reformed, Chief Dare Adesope, has called for a selfless leader for the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, one that will not betray the Yoruba people.
According to The Nation, the pro-yoruba activist remark is coming from a backdrop of the statement made by a chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, that the group has thrown its weight behind the presidential ambition of Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi.
“Judging by the crisis within some elder statesmen and members of afenifere, one would deduct that the leaders are fighting personal battles.
“What led to the misunderstanding between pa ayo adebanjo, who is acting leader of the group and his predecessor, pa reuben fasoranti, is worth talking about, it looks like a case of personal interest and power tussle.
“The two nonagenarians have had misunderstanding over the endorsement of presidential candidates for 2023 general election.
“While pa adebanjo had endorsed mr. peter obi of labour party on behalf of afenifere, pa fasoranti, during a meeting at his akure residence in ondo state, endorsed former lagos state governor and presidential flag bearer of all progressives congress (apc), asiwaju bola tinubu”, Adesope said.
