The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has requested the case file of minors recently remanded by the Federal High Court.
This development was disclosed in a Friday night press release titled, “Endbad Governance Protest: AGF Intervenes, Seeks Casefile from Police.”
The release stated, “It has just come to my notice that the police have arraigned those arrested in connection with the endbad governance violent protest in court for various offences including treason.”
Fagbemi highlighted that there are certain issues his office needs to examine to make an informed decision on the matter.
“I am aware that the court has remanded the defendants in detention centres and adjourned the case to January,” he added.
He clarified that while he cannot alter the court’s remand order, he has instructed the Nigeria Police to transfer the case file to his office and hand it over to the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Fagbemi stated, “I have further directed the DPPF to immediately put machinery in motion for consideration of the court to bring the adjournment date forward (an earlier date).”
