The Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has invited the leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state to a meeting on Tuesday, March 12, where he will announce his bid to run for the office of the Governor.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office in 2023, after the death of his predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been widely criticized for his performance and continuity in governance.
The Governor is expected to face a tough contest for the APC ticket, as some aspirants have already indicated interest to challenge him in the party’s primary election, scheduled for April 2024.
The main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party, has also vowed to reclaim the state from the APC, which has been in power since 2016.
The governorship election in Ondo State is slated for November 2024.
