The ruling All Progressives Congress, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the new Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic and Community of West African State.
Premium Politics had earlier reported that President was elected as the Chairman, at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the regional union, held on Sunday afternoon, in Bissau, the capital city of Guinea-Bissau.
The ECOWAS Chairmanship is a position held by one of the heads of state or government of the member countries, chosen on a rotating basis for a one-year tenure.
President Tinubu took over the position from the outgoing Chairman of the union, Umaro Embalo, the president of Guinea-Bissau.
However, in reaction to the development, the leadership of the APC on Sunday night, congratulated the President, through a Twitter post.
“Congratulating him, the party wrote: The APC family congratulates President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT GCFR, on his emergence as Chairman of Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during its 63rd ordinary session in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau.”
