The National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress, Chief George Moghalu, has tendered his resignation from the party, citing personal reasons.
In a letter dated August 26, 2024, addressed to the chairman of Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA, Anambra State, Moghalu notified the party of his decision to leave, effective immediately, according to Nigerian Tribune.
The letter, copied to the Local Government Area and State Chairmen of the party, expressed Moghalu’s desire to maintain a cordial relationship with party members despite his resignation.
Moghalu, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, had been a member of the APC before his resignation. His decision to leave the party has been met with surprise from political circles, with many speculating about the reasons behind his departure.
The letter, dated August 26, 2024, and titled “Resignation of Membership of the APC,” was also copied to both the Local Government Area and State Chairmen of the party.
The letter reads in part, “I bring you the good wishes of my dear family and formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the APC, effective today, August 26, 2024.
“Please accept this as my personal decision. It is my utmost desire and expectation that we will continue to maintain the cordial relationship we have built over the years.
“I wish you and all the members of the party the very best. Please accept the assurance of my best regards.”
