The North Central All Progressives Congress Forum has vowed to appeal a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, dismissing their suit seeking Abdullahi Ganduje’s removal as National Chairman. The Forum Vows to Appeal Judgment.
The suit, filed against Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, argued that Ganduje’s appointment breached the party’s 2022 constitution and zoning arrangement, which reserves the chairmanship for the North Central region, not Ganduje’s North West region.
Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the suit, citing the Forum’s lack of legal standing and failure to exhaust internal dispute resolution mechanisms. Ekwo stated that the appointment of APC officers is an internal affair beyond judicial interference.
Forum Chairman Saleh Zazzaga responded, “We will appeal the judgment, our lawyer has already been instructed to file the appeal. One vital thing we are seeking from the court is the interpretation of the Party 2022 constitution as amended and the zoning arrangement, but that wasn’t done.”
Zazzaga emphasized the urgency of resolving the issue, warning that Ganduje’s continued tenure would harm the party and incur legal liabilities.
He said, “The earlier the President and the Party know that Ganduje’s remaining in office is retrogression for the Party… the better. We believe that the Party will not want to trade the whole of the North Central region for Ganduje.”
He expressed gratitude to members and supporters, encouraging them to remain dedicated and hopeful as they pursue regional development and democratic dividends.
