The All Progressives Congress has emerged victorious in the Kebbi State local council polls, winning all 21 chairmanship seats and 225 ward councilor seats.
The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Sunday, confirming the APC’s dominance in the elections.
According to KESIEC Chairman Aliyu Muhammad-Mera, 17 political parties participated in the polls, including the APC, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Labour Party African Action Congress, Boot party, Social Democratic Party, among others.
Muhammad-Mera commended the security agencies and stakeholders for their support, noting that the exercise was peaceful and hitch-free.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party had boycotted the elections, alleging bias from the commission’s leadership.
The APC’s sweep of the local council polls solidifies the party’s hold on Kebbi State, setting the stage for future political battles in the region.
