The immediate former Minister of Interior and former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has shared his political experience with his successor, the immediate former Governor of the State, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Aregbesola who shared his experience in a 24:17 video, that came across online, claimed that Oyetola and his political supporters betrayed him and the structure of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state.
According to the former Lagos Commissioner for Works, Oyetola and his supporters started a campaign of calumny against him since he assumed office.
The political guru popularly known as Ogbeni, claimed that in 2020, his successor told Osun people that he was the cause of why he almost lost his first election as the Governor of Osun State, due to Aregbola’s non-payment of pension, and half payment of salaries and allowances during his tenure.
Aregbesola who spoke in Yoruba throughout the video clip, noted that the leader of their party called them for a peace meeting in Abuja, on August 26, 2021, to settle the disputes within the APC leadership in Osun State, adding that he made his demand 1/3 control of the party structure while suggesting 2/3 control by the then Governor Oyetola, but his requirements were never met by the then Governor.
Aregbesola further claimed that, running to the last governorship election in the state, a spokesperson to the camp of his predecessor while speaking on a radio programme, said anybody who was not invited to join the campaign team should not come out, so as not to be embarrassed.
However, Ogbeni Adesoji also said he warned the camp of the APC loyal to former Governor Oyetola, to find a lasting solution to the problems within the party, but they refused to yield to his warning, till the party lost during the last governorship election in the state.
It would be recalled that there was a serious political crisis between Aregbesola and Oyetola, which eventually caused the immediate former Governor to lose to Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.
