The ruling All Progressives Congress on Monday, called on the Department of State Security and the Nigeria Police, to carry out a thorough investigation on the alleged foiled attack on the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
This call was made in a Press Statement issued by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Premium Politics earlier reported on Monday, that PDP in a Press Statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba on Monday, alleged that the purported terrorist attack on its candidate, was a plot by APC, to silence Atiku under his mandate, and also cause mayhem in the country, ahead of the tribunal judgement.
However, APC in its call to the DSS and the Police for investigation on Tuesday, described PDP as a party that spread falsehood with its mindless campaign of calumny, noting that APC will no longer tolerate the use of serious security issues as a means of cheap political blackmail.
According to the party, spewing lies and gibberish has become PDP’s participation following its crushing defeat at the last presidential election.
APC however noted that this allegation came, a few days after the PDP alleged that the party was plotting to intimidate the judiciary.
The party which maintained that it is irresponsible of the major opposition party to politicize such a serious national security issue that requires a reasonable approach, therefore urged the security agents to do a thorough investigation and bring the culprits of such attack to book.
