The Bauchi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ahmed Jalam, has tragically passed away.
Jalam, who was also traveling with his driver, died in an auto crash on Saturday along the Misau-Darazo Road in Bauchi State.
Jalam and his driver were en route to his hometown of Jalam in the Dambam Local Government Area when the fatal accident occurred.
Reacting to the incident, the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, expressed profound sorrow, stating, “The commissioner’s death leaves a profound emptiness and casts a pall of mourning over the state as he was known for his dedication and commitment to service.”
Ahmad Jalam had a long and respected career in public service. He first served as the Commissioner for Religious Affairs in 2019. In 2023, he was reappointed as a commissioner, this time for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, a position he held until his untimely death.
The late commissioner was 60 years old and is survived by his wives and children. According to our correspondent, his funeral prayer is scheduled to take place on Sunday morning in his hometown, Jalam, in accordance with Islamic rites.
