The Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi State has suspended Habibu Umar, the representative for Kirfi Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
As part of the suspension, Umar is barred from participating in all party activities until further notice.
This decision was made following an investigation into his actions, which were deemed as violations of the party’s constitution.
The PDP State Chairman, Samaila Burga, informed the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly in a letter that Umar had been found guilty of insubordination. On November 5, 2024, Umar received a query for violating sections 58 (9) (1) and (f) of the PDP Constitution, according to Daily Post.
“Effective from today, November 25, 2024, Hon. Habibu Umar is barred from participating in any party activities until further notice,” the chairman stated.
A disciplinary committee, established on November 11, 2024, conducted a thorough investigation, and after concluding that Umar was guilty, recommended his suspension. The suspension took effect on November 25, 2024.
In a separate development, former Bauchi State House of Assembly member Adamu Bello has rejoined the PDP after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bello, a founding member of the APC in the state and a key figure in the Bauchi North Senatorial District, cited the ongoing support of Governor Bala Mohammed for his decision to return to the PDP.
Bello, who had previously served as the Sole Administrator of Giade Local Government Area and played an important role in the APC’s victory in the area during the last general elections, explained that his constituents had encouraged him to join the PDP to better represent their interests and ensure continued progress for the community.
“I have always been a voice for my people, and they have asked me to take this step so that we can continue to progress,” Bello remarked.
