Bauchi State’s Deputy Governor, Aueal Jatau, is leading a government delegation to the Court of Appeal, Abuja, awaiting today’s verdict on the March 2023 governorship election.
According to The PUNCH, the deputy governor is representing the state governor, Bala Mohammed, who is presently abroad.
The deputy governor was accompanied by the State House of Assembly Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, and the Peoples Democratic Party Chairman in the state, Hamza Akuyam, among others, including commissioners, special advisers, and state officials.
The election, initially declared in favor of Mohammed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, was challenged by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Sadique Abubakar, who contested the outcome.
The governorship election petition tribunal, chaired by P T. Kwahar, affirmed Mohammed’s victory, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
However, dissatisfied with the tribunal’s ruling, Abubakar appealed to the Court of Appeal, contesting the decision of the lower court.
