A former media aide to Governor Samuel Ortom, Paul Tion, has assumed office as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State.
Tion succeeds Alhaji Yunusa Garba, who served for eight years. During the handover ceremony, Tion pledged to uphold PDP’s core values and rescue the party from its current challenges.
The new chairman thanked God, former Governor Ortom, and party stakeholders for his emergence. He assured of his commitment to repositioning the party for victory and working harmoniously with all stakeholders.
Outgoing Chairman Garba urged the new executive to maintain unity and understanding, essential for achieving party goals. He expressed confidence in Tion’s ability to achieve results.
He assured of his unwavering commitment “to upholding the core values of the PDP and to rescue our party from its current challenges and bring it back to winning ways.”
He also commended the outgone Chairman for his dedication and service to the party assuring that under his leadership, “PDP would witness uncommon transformation and record great successes.”
Party leaders, including former Commissioner Bernard Uneger and Aondona Isaka, pledged their support and loyalty to Tion’s leadership.
With Tion at the helm, PDP is poised for a resurgence in Makurdi Local Government Area.
