The Chief Whip of the 10th Senate, Ali Ndume, has remarked that former President Muhammadu Buhari did not exhibit the level of leadership and oversight observed in the administration of the current President, Bola Tinubu.
Ndume highlighted Buhari’s lack of active control and supervision over his appointees throughout his eight-year tenure.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, the Senator contrasted Buhari’s approach with the perceived hands-on management style of the incumbent President, Tinubu.
Additionally, Ndume recently expressed confidence in the 2024 budget presented to the National Assembly by Tinubu, indicating his trust in the current president.
He said, “I believe in President Tinubu, I think he can change things. The President here is in charge, that’s one thing with him.
“Sometimes people even think Tinubu is too authoritative. No, he takes charge; unlike our former President who will just give you an assignment and will not look over you. That’s where the problem is, and he knows that. That was the mistake President Buhari did.”
Ndume further mentioned that Buhari eventually acknowledged his assertion regarding his administration being filled with individuals he referred to as “kleptocrats.”
“He (Buhari) ended up confessing these days that he had more kleptocrats in his government. I said it before, and now he admitted it that there were some kinds of people that took over power to themselves. But in Tinubu’s government, you can’t do that,” the senator submitted.
