Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has revealed why the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, resigned his position.
In a statement issued through his official Twitter page on Friday, the presidential aide stated that the minister resigned to contest the next Bayelsa governorship election.
“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election,” he tweeted.
Also according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Bayelsa gubernatorial primary election is slated to hold about 30 days from now.
It would also be recalled that Sylva was governor of Bayelsa from 2008 to 2012.
