The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign spokesperson, Dino Malaye, said the failures of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) have undermined the chances of the All Progressives Congress standard bearer, Bola Tinubu of becoming Nigeria’s next president.
Dino made this assertion when he appeared on Channels TV, outlining the poor performance of Buhari’s regime under the APC.
The former lawmaker touched on Buhari’s inability to address the economic challenges facing the country which has made all candidates of the APC “not marketable.”
Dino remarked, “We have carried out a lot of intellectual works. We have carried out opinion polls, we’ve interacted with the people and this government marketed Atiku by their colossal failure.
“What will APC sell when in 2007, when Obasanjo was leaving government, external debt was $3 billion, when Yara’dua came, and may his soul rest in peace, external debts was $10 billion, during Jonathan’s administration, external was $15 billion, today it is $4o billion, as I speak to you separate, or rather minus revenue from external debts, or minus external debts from revenue during Obasanjo, he left $40.17 billion.
“During Yara’dua’s, if you subtract external debt from revenue, it is left with $22.34 billion, during Jonathan, he left with $13.24 billion, today in this present administration that Keyamo is telling Nigerians that Tinubu wnats to continue, exactly what Buhari’s has done and he’s doing if you subtract external debt under Buhari’s administration today from revenue, what you have is $-0.82 billion, we are living in negative.
“Today, the most difficult candidate to sell is any APC candidate whether at counsellorship level, House of Assembly, House of Reps or Senate or governorship. That is why you cannot defend Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you cannot promote Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you cannot campaign for Bola Ahmed Tnubu and not look stupid.”
Melaye further said Atiku prepared himself for today. Even in the last two years, he is the only candidate who has gone to update his education and obtain his Master’s degree from a university in Cambridge. So, who is more prepared in terms of experience, in terms of hospitality, in terms of contacts?”
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, Adebayo Shittu, described the PDP campaign spokesman as a jester, stressing that Buhari was not the presidential candidate of the APC.
He said, “You know Dino Meleya is a jester and it’s because the PDP wants to continue to abuse Nigerians with fake things. So, they decided to look for a jester-like Dino Melaye. I don’t think serious Nigerians should give anything Dino says a very serious thought.
