The Republic of Burundi has prayed for a peaceful election in Nigeria, come February 25.
Daily Post reported that the special envoy of the President, Evariste Ndayishimiye, made this prayer on Monday at the presidential villa in Abuja, hosted by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret’d.).
Ndayishimiye, who was accompanied by Burundi’s Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Audace Niyonzima, said president Évariste Ndayishimiye, in his New Year message, wished Nigeria well in the general elections scheduled for February and March.
Ndayishimiye, on behalf of his president, said, “We pray that the polls would be peaceful and successful, so that Nigeria would maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability.”
Buhari, in his response, said in the spirit of African solidarity and brotherliness, Nigeria will support Burundi in diverse ways as necessary.
