The Nigerian Nollywood actor turned politician, and the lawmaker, representing Surulere state constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has appealed to Nigerian youths, to find a place in their hearts and forgive him.
The politician, who lamented the level of hatred towards him, said he receives verbal attacks, wherever he goes.
While speaking on a TVC’s programme, ‘Your View, Let’s Talk,’ Elliot explained that, the abuse is not limited to social media alone, but people abuse him anywhere they see him.
“I’m in politics now for eight years, and I still stand on the fact that love conquers all. I mean, I’ve gone out in the streets and people still curse me.
“But, I’m not afraid, I’m not ashamed because they don’t understand the stress that you go through,’ Elliot said.
The politician, who tendered his apologies during the programme, said he made the comment taken against him, out of emotion.
It would be recalled that, the lawmaker representing Surulere state constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, refered to the Nigerian youths as children, during a plenary session in the state house, while commenting on the END SARS, in 2020.
The thespian, who complained that the insults he has received on the comment is too much, begged the youths, to show him some love.
“I’m still apologizing to those who must have misconstrued what I said. I said I was taken by emotions.
“But, in the end, it still didn’t take away from the facts; the hatred is too much, the polity, the hatred is too much.
