Details had emerged as President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and his Guinea-Bissau counterpart, Umaro Sissoco Embalo met in closed-door on Saturday.
Premium Politics had earlier on Monday, reported that Mr Embalo met with Tinubu in his Lagos residence, but the details of their meeting were unknown.
However, reports revealed that the two African leaders had discussions on economic issues between the two countries and West Africa as a whole.
According to reports, the Guinea-Bissau President said Economic Commission for West African States supports President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to reposition Nigeria.
According to him, the economic steps that have been taken so far, would not only be for the good of Nigeria but the entire West Africa.
Meanwhile, during his chat with newsmen after the visit, Mr Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, said the visit was strictly private.
“It was a meeting between two African brother presidents, and it was very cordial. Of course, the visiting president appreciated the steps taken by President Bola Tinubu within the last month.
“He said he is ready to cooperate with Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu at all times, just as the rest of the world has commended him over his recent policies.
“They also spoke of the ECOWAS head of government meeting which is imminently coming up and also spoke on other areas of cooperation,” Alake said.
However, the meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Alake, and others.
The closed-door meeting was said to have lasted for about three hours.
