The Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical and Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Most Revd Simeon Borokini, has urged President Bola Tinubu to remain vigilant and prevent any cabal from hijacking his government.
Guardian reported that the Bishop made the call, at the weekend, while delivering his charge at the second session of the 14th Diocesan Synod, with the theme, “Do Your Best for the Lord” held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Council of Ondo State.
He said the President must be able to step on toes, if need be, to revive the country. Borokini, who urged Tinubu to exercise firm leadership and protect the interest of Nigerians, implored him to do anything possible to reduce corruption and restore the country’s good image before the entire world.
The Archbishop also called on the President to ensure that only those with integrity and fear of God are appointed into his cabinet.
He said, “Since he has assumed the position of leadership and we have known that corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigeria, he should exonerate himself and try everything possible to reduce corruption.
“When you take a position of leadership, you have to step on toes. There are certain decisions that you will need to make. So, at this time, it is necessary to give us a good image.
“Eyes are on him to know what he’s going to do and how he’s going to lead this nation, especially as far as corruption is concerned.
“He should settle down fast and gather the best of the brains we have in the country to put an end to various problems and challenges facing the country.
“We will like to remind him that Nigeria is a blessed nation with both human and natural resources, and he (Tinubu) should therefore ensure that in his time, insecurity, banditry, kidnappings incessant strikes, as well as indiscipline and corruption at all levels, are dealt with.”
