The candidate of the Labour Party in the Edo state governorship election, Olumide Akpata, has lost his polling unit to Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ighodalo polled 41 votes to defeat the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, who garnered 32 votes at polling unit 11, Ward 06, Oredo Local Government Area in Benin City, the capital of Edo.
On the other hand, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Monday Okpebholo, scored 19 votes.
Akpata who voted at his polling at Oredo Local Government Area, expressed satisfaction with the voting process and expressed hope that it would be the same all over the state.
He stated that his supporters should be allowed to cast their votes as the exercise continues.
