The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has called on Nigerians to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Basiru made this appeal on Sunday after participating in the two-rakat prayers to mark this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations at the Osogbo Central Eid praying ground in Oke Bale, the capital of Osun State.
The prayers, led by the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Shiek Musa Animasahun, were attended by notable figures, including the Asiwaju Muslim for South West, Edo, and Delta States, Dr. Olatunde Badmus, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, and the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye.
Senator Basiru highlighted the significance of the Eid al-Adha festival, emphasizing values such as willingness to sacrifice, humility, and obedience to God’s commands. He stated, “So, we urge Nigerians to continue to be dedicated to piety, integrity, humility and to continue to see selflessness as the hallmark of sacrifice that will enable us to have a better society.”
He also extended his greetings to Muslims and all Nigerians on the occasion, adding, “We felicitate with all Muslims and also Nigerians on this very occasion. We urged them to continue to pray for the success of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
On the day of the celebration, major streets in Osogbo were notably free of traffic as Muslims gathered at various Eid praying grounds. There was a last-minute rush to purchase rams for the celebration, with prices seeing a slight decrease from previous days. At the Oke Baale area, many buyers were observed negotiating prices on Sunday morning.
Amadou, a ram seller in the area, remarked on the price adjustments, saying, “We have to drop the prices because after today, we may not be able to sell again. Some rams that I sold for N250,000 on Saturday, I have to drop the price to N210,000 this morning. The market is rather dull.”
