The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has passed away following a brief illness.
He died on Monday, November 4, 2024, at a tertiary health institution in the state, where he had reportedly been hospitalized for a short time prior to his death.
Though official details surrounding his passing have yet to be released, sources confirmed the Chief Judge’s recent hospitalization.
Justice Adeyeye was appointed Chief Judge of Ekiti State on October 11, 2021, by former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, Justice Adeyeye’s legal career began in 1986 when he was called to the bar.
He started as a State Counsel in the old Ondo State Civil Service before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission after Ekiti State was created in 1996.
His judicial career advanced in 2002 when he was appointed as a judge of the Ekiti State High Court. Over the years, he served in numerous roles, including on election petition tribunals, contributing significantly to the state’s judiciary.
Justice Adeyeye’s passing marks a significant loss to Ekiti State’s legal community and judiciary, where he was widely respected for his contributions to the justice system.
