The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that every Nigerian wants to take pictures with him.
Wike made this statement at an event recently aired by Channels Television.
According to the former Rivers state Governor, he discovered this at a recent event where he was invited by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, where guests at the event trooped to take pictures with him.
Also, at another event where he was invited by the Federal Island Revenue Service Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, he got the same attention from attendees of the event.
He also gave a scenario where he was at a train station in the United Kingdom and Nigerians who were also waiting catch the train offered to carry his luggage.
He affirmed that this was when he realized that it is important to make impact on peoples’ lives.
Wike was the governor of Rivers State from 2015 till 2023. During his administration, the state was transformed by the numerous infrastructural amenities that he delivered to residents of the state.
He is well known for his great impact in his state and even though he has only spent about six months as the FCT minister, Wike is among the top ranking effective ministers in the President Bola Tinubu administration.
In the online video seen by our correspondent, Wike said, “When you read social media you will not even drink anything from my hand. Are you not aware? If you see social media you will think that this man na the most evil…
“Look, I went to Lagos, the Chief of Staff had something, I went there… immediately I entered the place, every Nigerian wants to snap with me. I said what?! What’s going on?
“If I was in the world, you know I was in the world now I’m no longer there now. If I was in… I said God help me o, let my wife not see these pictures o. Everybody! So, I told Goran, come o! Is me that people want to snap with or is devil or ghost? To the point that my friend, Chief of Staff was now saying that, “come! Are you the one doing the party? Am I not the one doing the party?” I said, “you’re the one who invited me here o!”
“The next day we went to the chairman of the FIRS, he was doing something, everybody…”oga, we want to take selfie with you, i beg you”. I said, “if I’m collecting money you know how much I’ll make?”
“We went to London. The morning we were at Terminal 5, Heathrow, I was there, I not know how many Nigerians…”can we carry your luggage?” I said, “what is this?” Even in the train, “oga snap with me, small small small, just small.”
“So, that told me something, you must make impact. You must make impact on people’s lives. Whatever position you find yourself, make impact.”
