The former Zamfara governorship candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 election, Mallam Muhammad Kabir-Sani, has joined the All Progressives Congress, Zamfara chapter.
Kabir-Sani’s defection was accompanied by members of the former Peoples Democratic Party State House of Assembly candidates’ forum.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the decampees, along with thousands of their supporters, joined the APC through the Jajiyya APC political movement, led by Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka.
The defection was formally announced during a meeting with Rep. Aminu Jaji at his Gusau residence, where thousands of AAC and PDP members were present.
Kabir-Sani, in his remarks, explained that the decision to join the APC was motivated by their admiration for Rep. Jaji’s performance and development efforts in his constituency and across Zamfara. “We are convinced with the performance and good representation of Aminu Jaji, considering various developmental achievements he has recorded in his constituency and Zamfara in general,” he said.
Ibrahim Labbo-Anka, a representative of the PDP state House of Assembly candidates’ forum, also spoke on behalf of the group. He highlighted that their decision to join the APC was based on its strength as the dominant political party in the state. “We had fruitful discussions with mutual understanding with Hon. Aminu Jaji; so, we decided to join the APC. We will remain in the party for the development of our dear state,” Labbo-Anka stated.
Receiving the defectors, Rep. Jaji, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Ecological Fund, commended them for their decision to join the APC. He described the move as a significant development for both the party in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Jaji assured the new members that they would receive fair treatment and a cooperative environment to foster the party’s growth and strength in Zamfara. “I urge you to remain with APC and feel free to contribute to the best of your capacity for the development of the APC,” he said.
Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, the State Chairman of the APC-Jajiyya movement, emphasized that the movement is the strongest political group in the state, with an active structure spanning all 14 local government areas. He assured the defectors that they would be integrated into the party’s activities without discrimination.
Ajiya-Anka encouraged the new members to remain dedicated to the development of the party, promoting unity, peace, and stability within the APC.
