The members of the campaign council for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Ikechi Emenike, has been announced.
Inaugurating the council in Umuahia, the state capital on Wednesday, Emenike, who is also the chairman, charged the 1,740 members of the campaign council to hit the ground running immediately in view of the enormity of the task.
According to Leadership, members of the council consists of the governor, his deputy governor, members of both the National and state Assemblies, six retired Army generals and an ex-minister, government appointees, local government councils, commissioners, the party executives and members.
Emenike said the list, which “was compiled after a long period of scrutiny is not cast in stone”, adding that it could be altered to assign any members to positions where they could perform better.
“You are as well free to ask for reassignment to any position you think you can perform optimally. Our major task is to rescue and develop the state from further deterioration.”
Similarly, the deputy governorship candidate, who is one of the two deputy chairmen of the council, Barr (Mrs) Glory Akara said for the fact members of the APC have turned up in their numbers, it shows it was moving forward to victory.
She said, “For us to be here today shows that there’s a movement that has continued to be mobile. It can’t stop because it is not designed to stop. Elections are just few months away. So, I want to say we’re going to be victorious.”
