A former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Takai Shamang, has been abducted from his residence in Biniki, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The 78-year-old was taken by unknown assailants at around 8:00 pm on Friday, his daughter Grace Abbin confirmed.
Shamang, a renowned labour leader, served as President of the NLC and President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers (now National Union of Electricity Employees) from 1982 to 1989, according to Daily Post.
He is also the founder of GAWON Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides aid to widows, orphans, and the needy.
The kidnapping of Shamang has sparked concerns among his family, friends, and the labour community.
The incident is the latest in a series of kidnappings in Kaduna State, highlighting the growing security concerns in the region.
