Former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, emphasized the need for unity among ethnic groups in the Middle Belt region during the installation ceremony of the Chief of Takum, HRH Sopiya Gboshi, in Takum, Taraba State.
He called upon the 36 state governors to advocate for the establishment of state police to enhance security in their respective regions.
“When we unite, we will be able to protect this God-given land and the Middle Belt,” Jang stated. “Besides, you cannot have security in a place where the people manning it do not know the area.”
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State echoed the sentiment, highlighting Taraba State’s potential as the food basket of West Africa and urging collaboration between the government and the people to harness the state’s agricultural resources.
