Former Vice Presidential aide, Daniel Bwala, has said some residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are allegedly calling for a Governor and Senators, just like other states.
This development follows the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, September 6, on one of the petitions by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that the FCT is just like every other state and voters from there cannot be treated specially.
The controversy of the required 25% vote from the FCT, Abuja had being on since the election period till the PEPT judgement.
However, putting to rest the call for a mandatory 25% vote from Abuja by the PEPT had now warranted the residents of the territory to request for a Governor and three Senators for representatives at the Senate, just like every other state, as declared by the Justices of the tribunal.
Bwala made this allegation known in a statement he issued via his X handle on Sunday.
He wrote, “Following the Presidential Election Petition Court’s judgment which states to the effect that Abuja is just like any other state; I am hearing that the natives of Abuja are approaching the court for an order mandating FGN to let them produce their Governor and 3 Senators amongst other peculiarities of a state. What is good for Guinea is also good for Uganda.lollllllllll”
