The immediate past Governor of Benue State and leader of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, has appealed to his supporters and those of Senator Gabriel Suswam to put aside their differences and work towards maintaining peace and unity within the party.
Ortom’s call comes after a recent crisis over the control of the PDP in Benue State.
He urged party supporters to back the newly constituted Benue State Caretaker Committee, set up by the National Working Committee of the PDP, according to Independent.
In a statement, Ortom acknowledged that political disagreements are inevitable but emphasized that they should enrich discourse and deepen the democratic process. He expressed confidence in finding amicable solutions with Senator Suswam, citing their long-standing friendship and mutual respect.
Ortom commended PDP members for their peaceful conduct during the recent Ward Congresses and encouraged them to exhibit the same spirit during upcoming congresses. He also urged party members to support the State Caretaker Committee to ensure its success.
