The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that all political deals and alliances with other parties ended with the Presidential election, saying there is no agreement with any party for governoship election.
He called on the members of the People’s Democratic Party not to be distracted and vote for candidates under the umbrella party in the forthcoming governorship elections.
Wike disclosed this on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city when he joined his Oyo counterpart, Seyi Makinde in the commissioning of aviation fuel depot and Dr. Omololu Olunloyo 3.2km airport road dualization.
He praised Nigerians for supporting the return of power to the South last Saturday.
Recall the election produced Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress as the president elect.
According to Wike, “There is no relationship with anybody again. The only relationship we have on 11th of March is umbrella. Don’t hear any grammar again. The only grammar you can hear now is umbrella, nothing like broom. Broom ended last Saturday. Labour ended last Saturday. What will reign now is umbrella.”
He also hailed Makinde and others for defending the unity of Nigeria.
“How you know people who defend the interest of his people no matter the pressure is that, you believe in a course, and you believe that you are justified, stand by the course, it doesn’t matter what the outcome will be and that is why I can come out happily.
“You can only belong to G5, stand your feet on the ground because you know what they are doing. It is only those who are afraid, who have nothing to offer that cannot stand firm, be bold and take a decision and say we must put things right no matter who is involved.
“Your governor (Makinde) has shown that he is a man you can depend on; he has shown that he is a man that will not tolerate complete slavery. I am happy he is one of those that have made history by making sure power shifts to the South.
“I have told people that those who fight for change; those who fight for revolution may not be direct beneficiaries of that fight. Today, history has it that all of us are aware that when power finishes from the South, it will go to the North; when it finishes from the North, it will go to the South. It does not need to be written in any constitution before it is implemented, and I thank Nigerians for standing firm to see that this issue materialize.”
