Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has informed the state assembly of his intention to embark on his annual leave, which will commence on August 5 and end on September 6, 2024.
In a message read on the floor of the House by Speaker Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin during Thursday’s valedictory plenary, Governor Makinde stated:
“Annual vacation from 5th August 2024 to Friday September 6th 2024. Pursuant to section 190 subsection 1 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I hereby transmit that during the period indicated above, Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal shall be acting Governor and shall be in charge in my stead. I shall be back from the vacation on September 7th, 2024.”
The governor’s message indicated his desire to transfer executive powers to his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, who will serve in an acting capacity during his absence.
