Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has arrived in Kogi state for the mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
Announcing his arrival via his official X handle, the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP said he was in Kogi to support his party’s governorship candidate, Dino Melaye.
He wrote, “My delegation and that of the @OfficialPDPNig, are live at the residence of Sen. Tunde Ogbeha for the grand-rally of Sen. Dino Melaye, the PDP governorship candidate in Saturday’s election.”
On Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission will conduct the off-cycle governorship election in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states.
Melaye, the candidate of the PDP at the Kogi state governorship polls is a major contender for the seat with his major rival being the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Usman Ododo.
However, earlier in the year, the Labour Party had collapsed its structure in the state, declaring support for Melaye. The development had raised hopes in the opposition camp looking to defeat the anointed candidate of incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello of the APC.
