A leadership group, Initiative for Leadership Development and Change, has hailed the Federal Government, on its decision to relocate the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, from Abuja, the Nation’s capital, to Lagos.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, ILCD President, Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, who gave the praise while speaking during an interview with Newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, also lauded Tinubu’s economic growth initiatives, which he noted that repositioning of the aviation sector, was included.
According to him, Lagos is a commercial city with many international flights daily unlike Abuja.
“FAAN has no business being in Abuja because Lagos International Airport hosts more international flights than Abuja.
“Do you know that Air France frequents Lagos more than almost regularly than Abuja just like many others,” the ILDC boss stated.
He further restated his confidence in the ability of the President, to rejig the Nigerian economy with viable and people-oriented policies.
He called on Nigerians to support the visionary policies of the Federal Government for a greater Nigeria.
Nnam further restated his support, for the relocation of the CBN’s Forex department to Lagos, saying that Lagos is an African commercial hub.
“I want us to reflect on the picture of South Africa’s Pretoria and Johannesburg by making Lagos a commercial capital while Abuja will be the administrative capital,” he added.
An internal memo signed by FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, had directed that the agency’s headquarters be relocated from Abuja to Lagos.
