The Ebonyi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has advised Nigerians to return to farming to cushion the effect of hardship.
The party chieftain made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital on Wednesday.
He stressed that agriculture is the panacea to the growing hunger in the nation with a call on Nigerians to go back to crop and livestock farming.
He explained that if every family turns their backyard into vegetable garden and poultry farm it would reduce the increase in demand to meet household needs.
He emphasized that the country’s present challenge would be surmounted with collective contributions of all Nigerians irrespective of class, according to Daily Post.
“Things are hard in the country, but the much we can do is to be bold and pull our ideas together to overcome the challenges.
“’I want everybody to embrace agriculture; let’s feed first, these are things we can do by ourselves and I have told my family that all of us have to go into food cultivation.
“If you have food, I don’t think you will count yourself among the people that are lacking.
“Let’s embark fully into agricultural activities and reduce our engagement on English things.”
