Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu is aware of the challenging economic situation faced by Nigerians and working to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
Speaking at a service on Monday to mark the 70th birthday of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Akume, who represented Tinubu at the event, assured Nigerians that understands the current hardship.
The SGF stressed that the government is implementing strategic measures aimed at achieving long-term prosperity.
“The President acknowledges that times are hard, but at the end of the tunnel, there is always light,” he stated, reflecting the administration’s message of resilience and hope. “And solutions to complex problems can never be as instant as coffee, but we are on the right track,” he added, noting the gradual approach of the administration’s reforms.
This recognition of the situation comes after Tinubu’s administration introduced major economic policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.
While these reforms are deemed essential for stabilizing Nigeria’s economy in the long term, they have contributed to increased costs of living, impacting the daily lives of many Nigerians.
During the occasion, Tinubu, through Akume, also expressed profound admiration for Pastor Bakare, praising him as a “true man of God” and a steadfast advocate of truth and justice.
“Pastor Bakare, fondly called P.T.B., has been a beacon of hope and a voice for the voiceless in our society. His influence as a spiritual leader, nation builder, and advocate for truth has left an indelible mark, not just on those who follow his teachings, but on the nation as a whole,” Tinubu said, recognizing Bakare’s significant influence beyond the church.
Highlighting Bakare’s dedication to integrity, transparency, and fairness, Tinubu commended him for his decades of service.
“His decades of service and dedication to the principles of honesty, transparency, and fairness have earned him the respect and admiration of many across this nation and beyond,” Tinubu continued, acknowledging Bakare’s powerful advocacy and how his messages resonate, driving meaningful societal change.
Also present at the celebration were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and other notable guests. Together, they honored Bakare’s legacy as a dynamic political voice and a committed spiritual leader within Nigeria’s religious community.
