President Bola Tinubu lightened the mood during his visit to France, humorously telling an onlooker that he brought “sunshine from Nigeria” to the chilly atmosphere of Paris.
The comment came as he posed for pictures alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife.
When asked if he was too cold, Tinubu responded with a smile, assuring that the warmth of Nigeria had come with him.
While posing for pictures with Macron, an onlooker asked Tinubu: “I hope you are not too cold?”
Responding, President Tinubu jokingly said, “I’m not cold. I brought sunshine from Nigeria.”
Beyond the jovial remark, Tinubu took the opportunity to address French investors, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment.
During a joint briefing with Macron at the Elysee Palace, Tinubu assured that Nigeria is making significant strides in improving its security, making it an attractive destination for investment.
The President also emphasized the country’s efforts to diversify its economy away from fossil fuels, noting that Nigeria’s skilled and educated youth are eager to contribute to economic growth.
Tinubu assured potential investors that Nigeria is open for business, offering a free market economy where businesses can thrive without unnecessary hindrances.
He said, “We’ve been working on stabilizing the security system in Nigeria and we are getting closer and closer. We are doing better now in the area of security. I can assure all the investors that Nigeria is open for business.
“We assure you of a free market economy; easy in, easy out; no hindrance.
“We have a vibrant youth population that is well educated and ready to be trained, skilled development of our economy.”
