The Zenith Labour Party has successfully elected new national working committee members who will oversee the party’s activities for the next four years, reinforcing its focus on transparency, inclusivity, and good governance.
In addition to the new leadership, the party reaffirmed its commitment to shaping Nigeria’s political landscape by advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the people.
The party is also dedicated to promoting economic growth and national unity.
Amb. Khalid Arewa, the national publicity secretary of ZLP, announced that the election of the new party executives took place during the party’s recently concluded 2025 National Convention in Bauchi State.
Delegates to the convention took time to review and amend the party’s constitution, aiming to enhance transparency, accountability, and good governance. New measures were introduced to ensure inclusivity, allowing Nigerians from all walks of life to have a stake in the party’s activities and decision-making.
The newly elected leaders of the party include Hon. Chief Barr. Dan Nwanyanwu as the national chairman, and Hon. Yahaya Makama as the national secretary. Nwanyanwu, who formed the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, has previously served as the chairman of the Labour Party from 2004 to 2014.
Other key members of the newly elected national executive include Alh. Usman Danjuma as national vice chairman for North Central, Barr. Thankgod Enohoro as national legal adviser, Mrs. Chinyare Oge-Kalu as national women leader, Comr. Lucky Okurabore as national youth leader, and Amb. Khalid Arewa as national publicity secretary.
The executive is further rounded out with representatives from the six geo-political zones, ensuring that the party’s commitment to diversity and national unity is reflected in its leadership.
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the convention, Arewa expressed the ZLP’s pride in the event, which brought together party members from across Nigeria. He described the gathering as a major milestone in the party’s evolution.
The ZLP remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of equality, equity, and transparency, and has extended an open invitation to all Nigerians to join in the collective effort to build a better and more prosperous nation.
Arewa concluded by highlighting the party’s determination to play a more significant role in Nigeria’s political future, focusing on policies that promote the well-being of citizens, economic advancement, and unity.
“ZLP is set to play a greater role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the people, economic growth, and national unity,” he added.
